Unless you have the adaptive adaptive ( lights move in the direction the vehicle is cornering) xenons then they are spinning you a story Simon.Adaptives need futher work .I've a set lying in my shed that I haven't got the guts to fit in case it wrecks the electronics.
Normal Xenons can be swapped straight into a vehicle that has previously been fitted with standard Halogens.I've done it as have countless others on the site.Simple lift out the halogens and pop the xenon units in .

Mine (non adaptive) were swapped over from an 05 'S' to an 08 'XS'
Easy to do and apart from the occasional *flickering at start up they work fine. Unplug the cables, pull the tab (hardest bist as its damn stiff), and lift out.
You'll need to remove the grill too - but thats easy peasy.
Practise it first and then go to the dealer and show them how its done.
*As long as the engine is started before the lights are turned on, they dont ever flicker. Even then its just a couple of flickers a bit like a neon tube starting up.

. . . or borrow a set of halogens on "new car day"
Fit them before trade in and put the Xenons back into yours later in the day.

(Apologies to Damon Albarn)
A stiff tab can be avoided if you take a route straight through what is known as..... White Grease.
Spray some white grease on the sliders and they slide a lot easier. WD40 and other spray oils are too thin or tend to attract dust, glooping up the sliders but white grease spray seems to be spot on. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I'm watching a pair of Xenons on eBay, they are listed seperately. They seem very cheap at £80 each plus £20 P+P.

Are these what I need to upgrade to Xenons? I thought they were £780 per pair. Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

That looks suspiciously like the adaptive headlamp. There seems to be an extra lamp mounted in the sidelight assembly, which is only fitted on the adaptive lamps. NOT plug and play. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Has anyone suffered cracks in the headlight lens that doesn't seem to be caused by impact damage? I have LR MOT warranty that says lamps, bulbs and reflectors are covered for breakage if it's a failure, anyone tested this?
