LR3 Won't Unlock via Fob and Dash Button |
|
Hi folks - looking for some help with my 2005 LR3. I've read the similar thread that's running into 11 pages, but believe my problem may be different.
The car will not unlock with the fob (I only have one, I know!) AND the button on the dash. It will unlock manually, and will lock with the fob and the button on the dash.
Is this still likely to be the green/white wire?
When I press the dash button, there is a tone from the cluster, which also briefly illuminates. I can hear a click from the passenger (LHD) footwell too.
Any help will be appreciated.

BUMP
Removed the CJB and checked the connectors are seated correctly.
The green splice wires are fine and have been reterminated to be certain.
A new fob has been programmed and the defect is the same.
The click when the dash unlock or fob unlock button is pushed, is coming from the CJB, so I'm suspecting an internal relay is playing up. That said, only half the doors should be affected one (of two) unlock relays fail, and both failing at the same time isn't probable.

So if the 2 unlock relays are unlikely to fail at the same time.
Then it’s the common lock relay. The contact not making a good ground connection, while at rest.

Cheers, Pete.
There are two lock relays (one for driver, another for all other doors) which share the same ground as the unlock relays, which tends to rule out an external earth issue being the culprit.
If one lock relay is iffy, I'd expect to see a difference between the three doors and the driver's door. I'd expect the doors to keep locking themselves after being manually unlocked too.

I wasn’t thinking external ground.
Anyway, what’s left then?
No power ?
Deadlock relay ?
Just remember, for the motor to move, one side needs + and other side needs a good ground (via relay contact )

I've been looking at the electrical diagrams for a while now, and am struggling to work out what it could be!
The brief clicking in the CJB while I press the fob or dash unlock button makes me believe it's an internal CJB issue, but then I remember there are two relays!
The power source and fuse for the lock and unlock relays is the same. They share the same wiring externally to the CJB and drive the same motors, just in opposite directions depending on polarity, which is based on which relay has been energized.

Did a hard reset at the battery, but alas, it still won't unlock electronically...
