D3 SWB
May have been discussed elsewhere but seeing the new Defender in 90 and 110 formats got me thinking what a Discovery 3 short wheel base might look like.
Anyone on here got any rendering software to get a sketch together? Wouldn’t be impossible from what I know (which isn’t much)
Remove rear passenger doors and rear row of seats, then shuffle the boot forward but retain the rear boot doors and fold-away seats as well as the iconic roof line. Obvious mechanical issues with props, fuel tank and others needing shortening or otherwise altering, not to mention cutting out sections of the chassis and body (made all the more difficult by the lines in the bodywork and sunroofs). Other kinks would include wiring harness, air reservoir and compressor for suspension if fitted, amongst other issues…
But all in all could make for a very capable truck with an improved break over angle while also being short enough to comply with wheelbase restrictions on some lanes. Would shave a good few pounds off the total weight as well…
Thoughts on a postcard!

Well an RRS is a swb version of the D3. But I guess you want shorter.
For wiring looms. You just tie up the excess.
Manufactures do that !

Could be a good starting point although I’m thinking more of a three door so definitely shorter
