Installing non OEM side bars/ rock sliders/ side steps |
|
Hi all!
I have recently bought a 2009 D3 and I am now starting to make it look like I dreamt about.
I want to install a side bar/step/rock slider, but wanted something different from the OEM model.
If I buy the D3 specific brackets, would I be able to install virtually any side bar?
Has anyone here done something like that?
It would be nice to know the dimension limits and which would look good. For example, the ones from a Disco Sport, or a VW Amarok or Ford Ranger...
Any thoughts?

When I replaced the side steps on my D3 (many years ago) the brackets were different dimensions on the new non-OEM set to the brackets already on there.
I assumed the steps on there were factory fit and therefore using the official brackets, but cannot be 100% sure.
