Red battery indicator

Hello everyone.
I am going to tell you about a concern that I have had for a few weeks.
I have noticed that when I put a lot of stress on the engine for a long enough period like mountain road for 1 hour or two, I have the fan that starts to turn fully, it follows the engine speed, the more I accelerate the more it works fast the less I accelerate the less it spins. When it turns full, it looks like I have a tank under the hood !!!!
Yesterday, it did it to me too but on normal road without any particular request (30 ° outside).
In addition, the red battery indicator light turns on once or twice (no more) for a few seconds and then turns off.

Engine temperature at TDB is ok and the LDR level is good.
The IIDTOOL does not identify any code that is explicit or related to the problem.

I haven't lifted the hood yet, but I would like some tips / research leads.
Mass? Alternator? Viscocoupler? other?.....
Thank you 🙂

It is normal for the fan to work along with the engine if it hit a certain temperature - even more so if you have the a/c on.

good evening, thanks for your response.
I agree, but the air conditioning does not work (I did not look for the cause). There remains the concern of the battery indicator which only occurs when the fan is working fully. On short trips I don't have a red battery light.

Could the intermittent red ( alternator not charging light) be caused by the auxiliary belt slipping slightly ? If the belt is old, or the tensioner weak, this could happen.

If you have an IID why not monitor the live values for power whilst driving to see what's happening?

Possibly the extra load of the viscous fan being locked up as it should be in such circumstances is making the fan drive belt slip momentarily, this could throw the red light on, when was the auxiliary belt last changed? Is there any liquid (water or oil) on the belt?
Why doesn’t the air con work? - this may be the problem.

I just passed the IIDTOOL, here is the error code:
P0626-00: High Field Terminal Circuit Voltage
alternator
"Check the charging voltage. Check the charging system circuits. Consult the electrical guides. If the circuits do not show any fault, install a new alternator. Refer to section
of the workshop manual. Clear the
DTC and check for proper operation. "
Since the problem is intermittent, I will wait to see.

I also have a Cyrix splitter coupler, maybe the problem comes from there too.
I will disconnect it to see if the problem returns.

About the air conditioning, I have the D3 for 3 years and the air conditioning never worked, it is sure that it is not related.
I haven't been busy fixing it for the moment.

About the auxiliary belt, I don't know when it was changed, but it seems to have good tension and shows no signs of wear. There is also no liquid on it.

ISTR there have been incidents in the past where the alternator cable to battery has been rubbing on the chassis causing a short, use the search function under the disco4.com title for more info. Thumbs Up

At the front of the car. On the diff housing

Could be a loose connection on the thick cable too
