Disco 3 2007 trouble starting when hot
Hi all
Car starts and drives normally but when up to running temperature, if you turn the engine off, it won’t start up again. The engine turns over like normal but won’t fire up. When the temp drops it will start!!
Are there any sensors that would cause this to happen??

More info needed, how many miles has it done? when was it last serviced? Was genuine filters used? Have fault codes been read?It can when others can't,

My first thouht would be the camshaft position sensor, most system use this sensor only at starting. Should turn up as a fault code.Citroen DS23IE

I had similar on mine.
When cold no problem at all, get up to temp switch off then try and re start, sounded like a flat battery, let it cool for an hour and would start fine

150k miles, serviced 4K miles ago.

Yeah I have been told this idea. No fault codes given by computer

When hot car turns over but no start, starter motor good

I had the same problem on a Mercedes, after spending days at Mercedes main dealer they said the only solution was a “systematic change of components starting with the ECU” it was finally solved by my myself and was caused by a worn “O” ring in the fuel line allowing fuel to syphon back into the tank when hot, I don’t think this could happen on a Disco as the LP fuel pump is in the tank, or could it?It can when others can't,

It is a coil, after inserting the key and turning the ignition on it will read the code from the key to the engine ecu ( immobiliser). After this sequence the coil is used for charching the key. If there is a small hair crack in the wires of this coil the sensing part is gone after heating up and a restart will not happen. It would not be the last vehicle encountered by the AA or the Wegenwacht (as we call it over here) with this problem.Citroen DS23IE

Oh wow, bet that took some time nailing that fault down, hats off to u mate and imagine it was a massive relief not having to spend out for a new ECU
Know ur extremely knowledgeable and out of curiosity could a fuel temperature sensor ever cause issues like this please or would it show an error code

It could be the fuel filter if its a euro 3 pre 2007. I had one that drove fine but if you drove for a long trip or drove it hard when you switched the engine off it would turn over many times before it would restart.
I put a genuine filter on and never had the issue again.Andrew

Unlikely to stop it starting, but it could cause other minor idiosyncrasies dependant on time of year, like poor economy, glow plugs staying on longer etc.It can when others can't,
