Air suspension leak

Hello people hope we are all keeping well.

Bit of advise please would be greatly appreciated.

I have a air suspension leak on my d3 which I have pin pointed it to a leak from the dryer tank on the side of the compressor(leaking from both the orange and blue fittings/pipe)

What would be my best bet going forward?

Kind regards

Depends on whether the pipes are damaged, or the cap itself is causing the leak. You could replace the dryer cap with an alloy one which includes the 2 receptacles, these are better because the plastic caps tend to crack between the 2 receptacles. Or if you think the pipes are at fault, I think they can be replaced.

Hi disco, can you identify which compressor is? Maybe share a pic? You can replace the dryer pretty easier with the pumps still on the car, only a short Phillips screw driver required, if you can share which compressor I can point you in the right direction

The pipes are in ok condition but the ends are grooved where they sit inside the fittings, so new pipes wouldn’t be a bad idea.

And yes I have seen where they crack in between the 2 pipes, I believe that is where my problem is, my compressor works, it is a little bit noisy.

Who do everybody on here use now for genuine Landrover parts?

I have used nick at Yeovil landrover before.

For a dryer don’t bother going original LR parts, if it’s an hitachi, use one of these
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Disc...890.l49292

Complete, filled dryer ready to fit, full steel pipe connectors, I replaced mine last July, went in and has behaved perfectly.

If you have the later amk compressor I’m not sure.

Assuming yours is a Hitachi compressor. I fitted an aftermarket alloy cap to a new compressor (bought half price from Dan @Duckworths some years previous) when mine gave out. Saint Nick moved on to other things a long time ago sadly Crying or Very sad

Yes I believe it’s an hitachi, that dryer looks the same as mine.

Who would you recommend for the new pipes?

There’s plenty of repair kits around
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Air-Suspension-...890.l49292

If your just trimming the pipes back to make a clean edge to refit, there may be slack on your existing, you just need to make a clean square cut with a very sharp knife

Hey Disco, yes, looks like an hitachi, so you have a couple of choices (apart from expensively replacing the whole compressor lol)
1- replace just the end cap of the dryer, as someone else said, you’d want the full metal one like this,
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Land-Rover-...890.l49292
They’re around £30-£50 depending on how much you search, fairly straight forward to do as long as you’re careful when you take the old one off, there’s a spring inside, and you’ll loose your desiccant crystals if you are tilting the unit when it comes off Smile

2- replace the full dryer as a complete unit. The replacements have the steel pipe connectors, and come as a complete fresh unit, with fresh desiccant already fitted, it’s a case of twist the old one off and twist new one on. Something like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hitachi-Range-R...890.l49292

Personally, I went for 2 as it was easier to replace the unit with the compressor still on the car, and it meant the desiccant got replaced at the same time, always a good thing as it soaks up water over time, going hard and blocking the air intake to the compressor.

Hose Replacement / repair kit would be this one
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Air-suspension-...890.l49292

and replacement bracket is this one
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-SPO...890.l49292
Depending on where your snapped, you may not need to replace it, if it was on the top bolt, many don’t put that bot back in when putting back as it’s a pain in the Censored to get the bolt in, compressor brackets good with 2 bolts

I dropped the fleabay links in so you can see the pieces, no reason not to get them, I do for non critical parts, but if you’re happier with oem or MFR parts at least you know the bits now

Hope that helps Smile
