Floor grommets
Hi
Not surprisingly after the disco being stood for nearly 6 x months today I noticed some water as I opened the passenger side door, usual place of where the floor loom sits in that channel
Can’t see any but wondering are there any grommets in the floor plse that can be pushed out to allow it to drain or is it the case of removing all the door sill trim etc please
Just thought for now if it was easy to get to of pushing the floor grommets out but for the life of me can’t see any , maybe the underseal is covering them , really can’t mess around to much because of my back
also wonder if any of u have found water ingress because of being stood for a while
Haven’t got a sunroof, have done all the A pillars , scuttle panel etc in the past , the only thing I didn’t do was the milk carton trick over the cabin filter intake

I don’t think it has grommets like other cars. I’ve not noticed any myself.
Wet vacuum cleaner or absorbent dish cloth are you friend
Probably needs the milk bottle mod if the pollen filter is

Many thks as always , indeed also not noticed any grommets , haven’t checked the pollen filter as of yet , that’s the only thing I can think of as before it stood it was fine for at least a year
Funny u saying about a wet vac as I think the karcher doubles as a wet vac
remember seeing some drain valves in boiler room water trays , where they would have a small thin piece of rubber so as water went on top of it would push the rubber down and allow water out but not back in , was around 28mm in diameter but would only need something like 10mm
Got a few ideas and will of course more than happy to share if they work
will check that pollen filter , also wonder if the window strips are ok, as could water go down the door , out the bottom and onto the floor

Anything getting past the window seal will go in the door and not get in the cab.
I’ve had problems with the door seal though, letting water in at the bottom. Should be evidence of this. Either wet or rust marks
It’s worth doing the milk bottle mod though.
I put plastic between the scuffle panel clip holes, so the clips would always hold the plastic in place plus a bit of glue to hold it in place while it’s not present

I had a high tide in the motor last week
I used a manual oil pump from the boat to remove the water but had also removed the seats and trim so was easy enough to dry the remained with a towel then dehumidifier for a week

Many thks and will indeed sort out the milk bottle mod, so at least then it’s done and dusted , will also check the pollen filter to see if that’s wet
Ah i see ref the door , did look at them a little while back and couldn't see any rust or signs of ingress
Thks again and looks like the first job will be to bet the water out

You will be suprised how much water there is.
I used a wet vac on one i was working on which cleared the front but after a few minutes it filled back up so i had to keep the vac going for 20mins and had a good 4ltrs out.
The leak was caused by leaking on the windscreen pillars and coming through the heater vent.Andrew

Ur right as I Remember when I first got mine that channel was full and indeed was also surprised how much water there was , took weeks to dry it all out and at the time I was replacing the manual seats with electric so handy I peeled the carpet back
Even the thickness of the insulation and carpets I couldn’t believe how much water it held
Blimey 4 x litres , am hoping it’s just the pollen filter as everything else I’ve sealed up
Would be worrying on some of the older motors with that amount of water in rotting the floors out
might see if I can fit a manual drain off so can then easily just open a drain off, but alas i suspect its double skinned as that would be too easy

Would be so nice to finally cure the water ingress issue once and for all , even my old freelander would leak and fill up the entire boot well
That’s a good idea ref the vacuum oil pump as handy to have a small tube on the end for the hard to reach areas

It only takes 60 seconds to check the pollen filter depending on how much is in your glovebox
I would start there if the pollen filter is dry it will be a lot harder to find the leak, i have used a strong mix of food colouring to find a leak before that turned out to be a windscreen not sealed properly.Andrew

I don’t think there’s to much in the glove box, famous last words, lol
Could u see the ingress after removing the passenger side vent for ur windscreen please
Really hope it’s not that as I assume the windscreen has to come out , know when I done my A pillars I blanked off the bottom hole and ran a bead of silicone down the side of the windscreen
Would never of thought using food colouring , awesome idea
On my old freelander I used a few chimney smoke pellets , thing leaked smoke like a bleeding steam train

No i couldnt see and ingress it was leaking in down the sides and dripping out the bottom of the windscreen.
I used a local company who cut the windsceen out and rebonded it, i doubt if this is your problem its quite rare nowadaysAndrew
