Noise whilst Reving and coasting
Hi all I’m new to the forum and also the Land Rover lifestyle I have bought a bit of a project disco 3 with a few hopefully little problems the first one I want to get sorted is a kind of metal to metal sound that happens when I remove my foot from the accelerator and also when the car is stationary and I rev it it also make the noise
I have stuck my head in the engine bay whilst someone has revved it for me i it seems to come from the right hand side pulleys
If anyone has any ideas please let me know

Most likely one of the two drive belt tensioners are on the way out. Take the belt off and check the upper and lower tensioners. (note the correct orientation of the belt) If there is any cracking of the belt track change that too.
There are other possibilities but check the above first.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

You dont need the fan off. Loosen the bolt holding the tensioner and put a screw driver in to take up the tension and slip the belt off. Some have provision for an extension bar in them to take up tension

Better have the timing belts/tensioner and idlers checked so. I would advise against driving it until the problem is confirmed. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Not really, noises can be confounding unless you're experienced with diagnosing them. It may turn out to be something simple, but it's difficult to be definitive at this distance!!
You could upload a vid or sound clip to YouTube and post a link here!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Have you a stethoscope, if not a large screwdriver will do. With the screw driver, put one end on different places and put your ear on the handle and listen for where the noise is coming from. The louder the noise the closer you are to the problem.

It could be just boost a pressure leak which would explain why you think its near the air intake. If so it should be easy to confirm if you check thoroughly the intercooler pipe, plenum chamber seal, and the "Y" junction pipe seals.
The only other innocuous possibility is the exhaust crossover pipe behind the engine. It may have sprung a crack which can squeal when exh gas is forced through it.
Sorry I should have mentioned it earlier, but it's been a busy day yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
