Air Suspension Service...

Hello,

Are there any recommendations for servicing air suspension on a D3 around the Worcester area? Anyone ever used JMW4x4?

Thanks in advance.

If you can use a screwdriver and a few small tools you can very probably do it yourself!

The system requires little in terms of "maintenance" but the compressor being the exception. The air dryer which is part of it contains silica beads (desiccant) and two filters. Over time the silica breaks down into fine powder, which can get past the filters and clog up the suspension valve blocks which regulate the air bags.
Moisture will now also make its way throughout the entire system.

Its an easy fix, with the most finicky bit being removing the compressor. Once removed its a matter of removing the dryer and replacing its contents with fresh desiccant and filters. Removing the exh valve and cleaning along with various other small bits.

A more comprehensive rebuild is also possible if you have a Hitachi compressor, as piston, seals, and gaskets are all available as a kit. There is less available for the AMK compressor other than gaskets but this compressor is tricky to do a total rebuild anyway.

If you remove the compressor cover you can see which compressor you have and proceed from there. If you do a search here on the forum there is plenty of guidance on DIY maintenance.

Most garages will not bother with a rebuild and prefer to charge you lots of cash for fitting a new compressor, often very inferior Chinese junk. So do it yourself, read the forum threads and perhaps get a knowledgeable friend to help. Thumbs Up
