Car alarm....bonnet sensor?
Hi lads,
I had a few embarrasing incidents recently when the car alarm just came on even though nobody had touched the car. I suspect the bonnet sensor because when I checked on the dashboard it said "bonnet open" even though it was definitely closed. Is that a common fault? I located it on the left lock(standing in front of the car) and I flooded it in WD 40. Will that do the trick or will I have to order a new sensor? Or is there another fix?
Greetings from Germany and stay healthy everybody,
Ralph

Yes, very common.
You can temporarily bridge the two wires with a paper clip, or a wire with spades on, to stop the alarm.Richard

Cheers Richard!
I just found this video which might be handy if anybody has a similar problem:
I just do the same as those guys and give it a good clean. If that doesn't do the trick, does anybody know if you can buy the actual switch assembly without the lock separately? So far I have only found the complete lock assembly, but the lock is fine of course and swapping out the micro switch looks dead easy.
take care,
Ralph

I had same problem. Fixed in 5 min. Remove bonnet latch, remove switch from latch, there is a tiny metal clip - bend it up slightly and assemble.

Bonnet Open Message and Alarm
I have had the same problem, but only early in the morning, and only when I temperature cools.
The switch has now been replaced twice, and I have spent hours adjusting the hood height and the switch/ lock height.
All to no avail.
Thanks in advance for any help,
