P2290 limp mode HDC fault and suspension drop |
|
D3 TDV6 Manual 57 plate
Hi some help please. I have a recurring, intermittent fault that I am struggling to track down. I have had the codes read and most responsible looks to be P2290, injector control pressure too low.
Goes into limp mode with engine/gearbox/suspension lowering etc. Ignition cycle clears it.
Some times it will happen once over a 50 mile commute sometimes not at all, but like tonight, every 1/2 mile which is extremely tedious and can't be doing my suspension pump much good.
I have been trying to assess exactly when it happens and it seems to be similar to an earlier post that was not answered so I am hoping someone will now know the answer.
Fine if I use the accelerator pedal as an on/off switch and batter it everywhere. Only does it when trying to maintain a constant speed. ie 50 mph on a flat and then hitting a slight incline. If I am at say 10% throttle to hold 50 mph on the flat and as I start a slight incline go to 15% throttle (to maintain speed) that's when it happens.
I have changed the break switch, checked the bulbs, battery and alternator look to be okay, engine feels to labour on light acceleration so also changed the fuel filter, but still happens.
Any idea where to turn next ?
Cheers
Mark

Do you get P0087 as well? I had this P0087 and P2290. Turned out to be the pressure control valve on the HPFP. You also need to follow Robbie’s guide to the low pressure fuel system.

Hi BigAl, no, no P0087, definitely seems to be fuel related, the car sort of labours almost like an automatic changing gear just before it cuts out

Genuine fuel filter? If so would have to check low fuel pressure and current draw from tank pump. Read Robbie’a guide to the low pressure fuel system. 👍

Did you get this sorted out? I’m experiencing the same thing.

Hi,
It may not be the same fault but have you tried cleaning your injector system? I used the Forte injector and turbo cleaner on mine and it cleared a different fault code and helped with the running.
