Suspension Compressor FAIL
Hi all
Disco 3 Commercial 2007 109k miles.
My AMK compressor has failed finally.
Anyone have any great contacts in the NE England area for sourcing a replacement? New or otherwise.
Was just going to send it off to Heath DIxon or Nigel Price but might have a bash at it myself with the fitting kit if I find the time.
Cheers

When you say "failed" what do you mean? It does not run, will not raise suspension or what. It may just need a service where you remove it and put a service kit through it. Many available on eBay.

Are you sure it is an AMK - originally the vehicle would have had an Hitachi - of course it could have been replaced with a AMK but it would have been unlikely that the replacement has failed so soon.

yes its an AMK ive seen it.
The local indie said it was the cause.
The pump runs noisily then after 5 or so mins then says normal height only etc then disables options for trying to select any other height.

Plenty of new/clone options on ebay - as well there are rebuild kits for the AMK. The original Hitachi would have lasted to about 80,000miles before failing so this AMK you have has failed very early.

80k..... Not in this part of the northern hemisphere as the humidity here is too high.
That said, they can and will last a long time if they are serviced every two/three years or so! Usually new silica and filters as well as a general dismantle and clean up should extend the life substantially. Provided, the fault has not been ignored for too long causing overunning of the compressor rendering it burnt out!!
It really is very easy stuff for any owner who can operate a simple set of tools and has a basic level of competence.
The Hitachi is a good compressor as well as being an easy rebuild it is easier to obtain parts for. The AMK is a more tricky rebuild of the piston assy, but it is a very robust unit and can live long if minded!!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

not sure where this 80K miles note has come from? errm?
Its an AMK, so I think I'll try a clone. Its just those upper bolts! Nightmare to get to.
