Wet Drivers side footwell |
|
I know there are several other posts on the site, but not sure on this one.
Disco 3 SE - no sunroof- Safari Snorkel Fitted, sealed wing vent. Carpet is wet in the drivers footwell around the accelerator pedal, also damp in the floorpan were the cables run.
Any suggestions were the water may be getting in from?
Thanks Mike

couple of suggestion - firstly possible door rubber, secondly the front scuttle where the wiper arms are or even the "A" pillar especially if you have had a front screen replacement. If you have been through deep water then maybe a bung in the floor missing.

Might be aircon icing up and the defrosting?
My old D2 did it because the gas was low - fixed leak & recharged and problem went away.

Any idea when the snorkel was fitted?
My understanding is that the snorkel replaces the A pillar trim.
My guess is that the A pillar trim upgrade done or clips haven’t been replaced Or broke when snorkel was fitted, and don’t seal properly.

If they don’t seal properly, water can get in through the clip holes, run down the internal of the A pillar into carpet and wiring channel beneath door tread plate.
It’s easy enough to pull out the door trim panels to check under the carpet foam to see if the damp extends up the bulkhead, or the trim panel covering the pedals to check along the top edge.
Other option is that the aircon/hvac has a rubber drain on both driver and passenger side that runs from the bottom of the centre console to the floor; it’s only about 10 cm long. If that’s perished or blocked, water from the AC system will escape into footwell. Think this is referenced in the workshop manual rather than TSBs, but can’t find it at the moment.
Hope it gives you something to go on.

There are small rubber AC drain tubes located near the center console that output to the transmission tunnel. The ends of these tubes can get built up with debris or mold and overfill. I don't recall the exact location but they were the source of a wet footwell on the passenger side of my 2006 LR3.
Another location is the windscreen cowel above the fuse box, which can warp and drain rainwater behind the firewall and into the footwell. I use black gorilla tape to hold mine down, it fouled a transmission control module along with the wet footwell.
