Manual fold door mirror dropped off!

D3 seater, Basic model, so no power fold.
I fold them in manually, if in doubt .
Went to fold mirror back out, and it just came away from the base!
I can't yet work out how one would put the two parts back together - at the moment, only the wires to the glass tilt mechanism holds the mirror on - that's not going to go well if I get above 3 mph.
Because of Corona lock down, it's not possible round here to get an indy to look at it. So I can't tell if it's actually broken (can't see any signs of alloy broken) or just come apart. I can't seem to find a schematic for the mirror mechanism.
Has anyone had one of these apart?

I had this problem. There are basically two ally parts held together by a strong spring and clip. Over time it all gets oxidised and stiff, I had a broken bracket so the only option was replacement. If just the spring has come off, a fix might be possible but it would be very difficult to reassemble. I still have the old unit, may try posting a couple of pics.

I have now greased both sides, making them easy to move without straining the mechanism. Chris

Ah, thanks - It's not possible to take the wing mirror cover apart, then?
I can't actually see the spring or clip!
I'll have to see if I can get a replacement

Well, 157 pounds inc VAT and delivery, from Autodoc in Berlin. I'll see how delivery goes with the current situation.
