Ashtray carrier removal
I have looked at as many threads on this forum concerning removing the ashtray and its carrier but for the life of me I can't get the carrier out as per advice here and the LR Bulletin.
I have tried and tried and there is no way I can get the carrier out.
It sounds so easy in the LR procedure .....'Using suitable tools, gently press against the ashtray carrier fixing clips and remove the ashtray carrier.(Figure 2)' .......
I must be doing something wrong or being a bit gentle with it! Can anybody help! Thanks.

The ashtray carrier, not the ashtray itself. That comes out easily. The LR bulletin says squeeze the sides and it will come out. Mine doesn't.

It can get stuck and impossible to remove the normal way, if the internal spring is broken and a part of it acts like a sort of anchor……..Best regards

I had the same problem and I just remove the ashtray part, it's a bit tricky but you have two latches on the side see the picture attached you need to push the outside card even more outside in order to release the latch.
You probably need a thick flat screw drive or an allen key that fits on a side of the ashtray

My problem is the guiding thing which was supposed to be over here but is of course broken.
Because I don't really use the ashtray I simply removed the spring and if I need to open it, I simply pull it from underneath.
Good luck

Many thanks - I'll give it a go. The photos help me understand what I am dealing with.
