GPS Week Number Rollover ("WNRO") - April 6, 2019 |
|
Are You Ready for the Next GPS WNRO (Week Number Rollover)?
As I understand it any device which uses GPS derived time could be effected, obviously SatNav, but DashCams & the like too.
Tom-Tom have updated their software for Renault & Smart cars.

Are there updates for JLR SatNav systems ?

I have seen the TomTom stuff this morning, and that's why I wondered if anyone had seen anything from JLR.
I did try and search the forum, but if I search for 'WNRO' nothing popped up. 2010 Disco 4 HSE

Would someone please enlighten me.

Its like the millenium bug Version 2.0 - 6th April is when the Week Number Rollover will happen on the GPS system, some devices say it could just stop the time / date and functions around that failing, others say the position will fail to update as well.
https://www.gps-repeaters.com/blog/gps-wee...-6th-2019/
This is from the TomTom site;
The GPS Week Number Rollover (WNRO) occurs every 19 years, with the next roll over taking place on 6 April 2019. Similar to odometers in older cars rolling over from 99,999 km to 0, the GPS WNRO is the resetting of the GPS calendar back to 0.
When the calendar resets, it can cause a miscommunication between GPS satellites and GPS receiver chips. As a result, some chips in satnavs will lose the ability to process certain functions.
What does this mean for you? It’s time to check your satnav. Depending on your device, you may need to update or upgrade. 2010 Disco 4 HSE
