Excellent write-up.
The main problem with these alternators were not only the diode packs "packing", but also that they seemed to be made of Unobtanium. Where did you manage to locate them?

As far as I am aware the only difference is what make of alternator is fitted to the car, you need the number from the unit, this one was a Denso unit.
The diodes where sourced locally to me, and I was told that they are not normally supplied to the public, but if there is enough intrest I could start a postal service in supplying them as they don't weigh much so postage can't be that much.

This Fleebay item looks similar ? Not sure if it is OEM though - On second thoughts it looks like the stud is shorter on the fleebay item.

Good service and posted to Essex. I think it helps if you download their catalogue and identify the parts you require yourself - not too difficult once you have all the numbers off the component.
Might be worth a try?
