Disco 3, 2005 roof bars

How do you mount the roof bars to the roof?
Halfords are saying it needs a T bar but haven't got one fitted only got the plastic trim.
Took that off and can't see any fixing points?

I thought all disco came with roof rails if yours hasn't you need those as well. I do believe you may be able to fit adaptor plates

You need to get Roof rails either short or long and then mount the cross bars on them. Search here there probably are some for sale

Be aware, your vehicle WILL NOT have the front hole, you'll need to drill that yourself. Wink Mods:

here are the built in roof channels you should have......





My roof bars ('Altea' after-market cheapies from ebay) have a dead simple foot / attachment arrangement as shown.






I suppose it depends on what bars you already have (if any?) and whether they are compatable or needs expensive adaptors to make them fit. 2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor (2004-2007)
2006 D3 - sadly missed (2007-2012)
2010 D4 - lovely colour Nara Bronze (2012-2018)
2016 D4 - best of the bunch (2018-2024)
2022 DiscoSport 45mpg, but its not a D4 (2024.......)
1997 Def 90 - softtop (2011.........)

All sorted managed to get some short rails off eBay £45 and only 20mins from house so already picked up fitting tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

You need to be aware when you remove the roof trim exposing the anchor nuts, each nut has a plastic insert in it which must be removed before you can attach the rails. The plastic insert will be colour coded the same as your paintwork. Wink
This may seem insignificant but it has fooled many roof rail installers. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos

… and use a bit of thread locking fluid too!

I've been having issues with my rails (due to old bolt from short ones breaking off in the fixed nut Sad ) and I did notice that the other bolts are not 100% tight every time I've taken rail up again to sort the Censored broken bit.
