Disco 3 engines

Hi
I hope everyone has had a good Christmas, and wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
I have a general D3 engine question, my d3 is now in my single garage in bits, lots of bits more bits than i have ever taken off a car before and the engine is not yet out(who ever designed this system)

Has any one had any dealings with CSL engine re manufacturers of Oldham Lancs, as they have (advertised on Flea bay) Fully re-con engine £3650 with 6 months warranty.
I am wary of buying a second hand engine and have it fail in a couple of months, but cost is a factor I know it is always a risk but i would like to minimize it as much as possible, failing this who would you recommend?
I am bored of being chauffeured by SWMBO in her Hippo, but at least it is a landrover,
I would post some pics but we still have dial up speed and pictures take hours to download so apologies for that, (Oh the joys of living in rural Norfolk).
Many thanks in advance,
Adrian

what happened to your engine?

Thought you had to take the body off to get the engine out?

There are various engine remanufacturers out there, even well known ones, that have has engines fail after only 50 miles...

The only recon engine I would use is a factory recon (with a 2yr warranty)

D3 engine

200 tdi
The old engine made a horrible cuffing noise and ran like it was on 4 cylinders (as lumpy as Grand mothers custard) obviously no power, and really noisy,
The body will come off I should have access to a two post lift end of Jan/Feb so thought i would pull out what i can to keep lift time to a minimum,
Regards
Adrian

This may seem a dumb question but who at Landrover would i contact, is it the local dealer? and what sort of money? The D3 is not worth very much, even with a new engine but i would keep it for as long as possible if i have to spend a lot.

have you had the heads off/compression tested it to make sure its not just a head/valve problem?

A Google search doesn't reveal anything.

Do you have an address or better still correct company name for a search of the Company's Registry?

My gut feeling is don't tough them with a very long barge pole.

DM's advice is excellent - don't ignore it.

The other option is buying a jaguar S type 2.7

Drive around in it while is cold, and then nick its engine when it warmer to put in your D3

You need to ditch the twin turbos and fit your single one though.
and swap ancillaries over
and sump
