park brake switch and how to fix it
So I was struggling with all sorts of faults on a D3 from hell.
The last thing to sort was the orange park brake light, the erratic behaviour of the brake and the related faults.
I noticed that the release only worked every 5th or so time.
Suspected a jam, went to inquire. The boss was listening to the noises and declared that it sounded good but didn't work most of the time.
So I took the switch out - go easy when prising out the plastic centre cover please - and had a closer lookFixing LR problems very far from Solihull.

Sorry this was supposed to go in the 1st message.
First I checked for continuity and changes when connected while operating the rubber buttons with my fingers.
Found nothing wrong.
Went back to the box on top of the different unplugged and still saw nothing wrong when Rafael the boss pressed the buttons. Hint your wiggle switch presses to buttons each with sliding plastic inserts.
Put the switch circuit pack on its housing.
And them I saw it.. the brake buttons have a support behind the circuit board, the release doesn't.Fixing LR problems very far from Solihull.

On my phone half of the text gets lost. . Here is the next bit.
I fitted 2 Defender door trim clips under the iffy part where the release buttons are. Made the whole circuit board sit about 0.3 mm higher.
Fitted it provisionally to the wiggle switch.
Got Rafa to operate it and listened to the dreaded box above the diff.
That is when I got the idea to dig deeper in the iidtool menus
