What do you want from your tyres? Wear? Dry weather traction? Wet weather? Winter? Price?

Never done many miles on Zeros but have GY Wranglers on the D4. Pretty happy with them but only used them on road and haven't been out in the snow with them. Only problem is I had them at 6mm and after 12k miles they are only down to 5mm, and I want a set of ATRs for next summer's Road Trip!!

I use at set of Pirelli ATRs all the year round, from long distance trips across Europe to off roading in the autumn and winter. Perhaps not the best off road but certainly very good for what I need them for (muddy track, occasional rocky slope).

The discerning tyre. Only place they don't do well in is thick mud. I've used them on road, tracks, sand (where they were brilliant), snow, ice, and they seemed to last for ever. No increase in noise and fuel burn as well over road tyres. I want to get them on the D4 but I have to use up these Wranglers. Or flog them.

You will regret that, they wear fast real fast, 15k from my set.
ATR are meant to be good for well over double that.

If not treble.
Mind you if I had them on my D4 they'd have been replaced with ATRs by now.

Same here. On my D3 I had originals and two replacement sets of Scorpion Zeros. Great tyres but only managed about 16k per set. Like Del I am replacing my Wranglers on the D4 with ATRs as soon as I get a bit more rubber worn off them. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

I managed to aquire a set of brand new continental cross contacts and the guy fitted them off flea bay they are the 19" hse size, had them a month and they are absolutely brilliant but I paid only half of there true cost ,I have been through many tyres in my life on many different cars and you want the best you can get on a dark windy rain sodden night with maybe a trailer on the back , just my opinion it's the only thing between you and terra firma

How interesting. I've indeed found that in thick mud they don't do as well but had always put that down to the useless off road driver (me). Reckon then it must be 90% useless driver and 10% tyres in my case!
