2016 Discovery 4 Body Shell Compatible with Discovery 3 body |
|
Dear Sir/Madam,
I've tried searching on the forum but could not find any detail. I have a 2016 Discovery 4 HSE which is accident damaged. I bought it as a winter project expecting panel replacement etc. but it has body shell damage. I see many fairly pried discovery 3's with engine issues, would it be possible to do a body swap from a Disco 3 onto a 2016 Disco 4?
Would it then be possible to do a interior swap from 3 to 4?
Many thanks,
John

I am not 100% sure but its possible using a another shell even though its on the original chassis might end up with a 'Q' plate

Thanks L319 and Disco_Mikey, I should have said replacement from another vehicle. OK. Will a shell from a Disco 3 fit a Disco 4 chassi?

if it does fit (and it probably will as mounting points wont have changed), will there be wiring differences to contend with? part of the body removal is disconnecting the wiring and if connectors or indeed wires themselves are different, I wouldn't want to start into swapping it all over.

I'm not sure if the plugs will fit, but I've been informed the electronics will be match coded so I would be as easy to swap the electrics.
However, the ideal would be to swap a shell complete with interior dash and electrics and get back the vehicle back on the road.

"easy" and "swap electrics" might not be two words I would put together for this job. but fair play to you if you are fit for it.
