Suspension error
2007 LR3 (North American)
I purchased the car recently from my wife's friend knowing it had some issues, the most serious being a problem with the suspension.
The rear axle wheels look like they are towing in.
The symptom.
1. Key on ignition
2. The compressor turns on an runs
3. About 30 seconds in the compressor turns off and the suspension icon (amber) lights up.
4. The dash reports "Suspension Error" following by dinging and the message "Normal Driving Only"
What are the first steps in troubleshooting. Surely there are some ODBII codes that I could read that gives me more information.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated

For an ODB reader the best thing to invest in is a GAP IID tool. DEsigned for Land ROvers and allows you to do a lot more than just read faults.
Do a search on here to find out more about it.

Thanks for the information...I tried to buy the tool from the web site in the link you posted, Xenon....but my attempt at joining their site to get a login to make the purchase process supposedly more quick resulted in an error....I switched to ebay and found the same scan tool for $129 and free shipping which I figure is probably about the same price as the 98 pound sterling. I received an e-mail this evening that indicated it shipped today, so I hope to be diagnosing both the TPMS fault and the suspension fault soon. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Joe, one of the major contributors to the fault you're experiencing is when the compressor top cracks between the two pipes.
I'm not saying this is your problem but read up on the threads here on the forum regarding the compressor top cracking to give yourself an insight into what may be wrong or needed to be replaced.
Good luck with it.Mods:

When I had suspension troubles,I was having various codes. Compressor venting too slowly etc,When we took compressor apart it was full of white powder which had blocked up the air lines
Bought this kit and all good since ,

Im having some issues with my D3 suspension. The codes are U0102 and C1A20.
I took the outer cover off of the compressor and found the bracket to be broken at the two lower bolts and off course the most difficult one is still intact..
I got the following numbers from the compressor end plate.
RQG500120
071218 A
T415Z
Where should i look for a new pump and bracket?
Thanks
Ken.....

Why do you think the compressor is gone ? You can get the bracket off eBay. I would try the kit that I used first ,Better than forking out £500 for a new compressor. Plenty of compressors on eBay ,A lot of disco 3 owners fit the amk ones which need an update in the ecu. Or get like for like Hitachi or Dunlop and it's a straight swap.
Pretty straight forward to fit.

Hi thommo1927.
The suspension warning light comes on red and then goes to amber and the ride is firm and fixed at normal height. I had the diagnostics done and it gave me the errors U0102 and C1A20 which I thought indicated the compressor is on its way out as is also noisy.
Should I be looking at something else?

KHorne,Have you cleared the faults ? If so what code reader have you got ? I don't think the U0102 is anything to worry about. Is the suspension dropping at all and have you got the 4x4 screen info ?

It has been lowering mainly at one side and when I get in to drive it has told me that the car is raising slowly.
Then just the other day it binged and the suspension light came on. I took it to a local garage who has done work on my Land rover before. They called and told me the codes and quoted £1200 for a new pump and intake filter. They cleared the codes and I decided to take it home and look into it myself.
The car was on mid height and felt stiff. Then the suspension light came on red, binged and turned amber.
So I took the cover off today to have a look and found the bracket to be broken.
I'm now looking at what to do next and I though change the pump.
The Car is an XS model and it doesn't have a 4x4 screen.
Should I be doing something else first?

If you don't mind the drive I'd take it to Mike Park in Dundee ,Well respected Land Rover independent. They roughly charge £600 to fit and supply a new air compressor. I bought my own diagnostic kit called icarsoft which for the money its good £94 inc delivery or the best one that basically does it all is Gap IID £400. £1200 you were quoted seems a bit high to me.

Thanks for the connection.
I'm looking around to see where to buy an exact replacement RQG500120 pump and I might have a go myself.
Cheers

I just purchased the same or very similar repair kit ($57) on e-bay. My code reader that I just got this weekend iCarSoft i930 gave me two codes. C1A29 Switch activation too long and C1A20 Pressure increase too slow when filling reservoir. Somewhat points to the compressor not keeping up (leaking or blocked input). I figure I will take the covers off this weekend and see if I can find any leaks...like the one pointed out in this thread where a crack develops between the red and blue push to connect fittings on the cover plate.

Joe ,After I fitted the refurb kit I still had the amber warning light ,After a couple of days it disappeared on its own accord. Now works perfect and the icarsoft reader shows no DTC.
