Squeaking rear brake [O/S] |
|
Hi,
My disco has developed a very annoying squeak from the rear off side brake - moving quickly it stops [over 30 mph] however at low speeds such as in slow moving traffic it squeals away big time!
when I lightly touch the brakes it stops, pads are okay albeit low - I have had the wheel off and there is no visible signs of anything wrong. Would this be a sticking caliper and if so how do I lubricate, does the caliper and pads need to be removed to do so or can a squirt of WD in the right place do it [being careful not to get it on the pad itself!]
Thanks

From your description it sounds like the pads may be sticking in the caliper, simple enough to take them out, clean the caliper seating points (check the sliders at the same time), replace the pads making sure they move easily and lubricating the pad contact points NOT the friction surfaces!!
Hopefully that should sort it and the caliper itself is ok - you can push it back, if its easy and steady it should be fine - go have a look!

Hopefully not,but could be your EPB ?
Had it on ours and possible cause of squeezing. They freed calliper off etc but continued making noise.
Now diagnosed as possible electronic park brake module.
