Service indicator
Does anyone know what happens, if anything, when the Service Indicator gets down to zero? Mine did yesterday whilst on the M5 & it was accompanied by a warning 'bing' & the computer froze up. A 2 minute 'reboot' in the services sorted it out but now I'm neurotic that there is a problem as the warrenty expires next week!!
ThanksRichard
Thats how it starts. The next thing is a big fist comes out of the radio & dongs you until the car is serviced.
In all seriousness: I went over by four days and only got the chime. Dealer said it would not effect warranty only going over by that much and the fact that I had tried to book it in 2 weeks before any bleeping.Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

Mine says -61 when I start it up. What does that mean?

That's reassuring for those of us who do low mileage -thanksRichard
Richard, You may get a time to service countdown if mileage is low. This counts down days to go before serivce is required. Did you think I would leave you crying,

Can't find a service indicator on mine - I have just been servicing it annually! Anyone give a quick guide as to where the indicator is & how it works? Thanks.

Do all D3s have service indicators??? Last April my old HSE showed it when service was due but the present S didn't (both due at same time). Just wondered if it was a "posh model" thing of something to get looked at for the next service.

I think the 'S' spec has been down graded. My elderly D3 -nov 2004, has the countdown. The concern I had was that when it got to zero, it seemed to confuse the poor thing completely. Seems fine now & those nice people Cowley & Co in MK will service it for £179 all in, when I get round to it Richard

The Service Indicator is there, but whether it shows or not depends upon whether the dealer has reset it.
In reality it doesn't mean anything to the D3, which is on a distance/time service regime in the UK anyway.

On the computer when re-setting the service interval, there is an option to disable it
