Ok I have lived without air con for nearly 2 years now but enoughs enough!!
The leak is in the rear air con unit (it's 2006 HSE) and is the union where one of the pipes enters into the unit.
I need to keep cost to a minimum (the wife hates me spending a penny on that car!) and it's just had its £570 road tax paid plus servicing lol
I have read the posts on the front blanking option - is it pretty easy for a 'will have a go' numpty like me?
Or given the fault is at the union at the rear (had it diagnosed) is it a big job (and expensive) to get this fixed. And if so how much should I expect to pay.

I would go with blanking.
It will keep costs down for the future.
get the pipe,
then either fit it yourself or get the a/c guy to do it

I love my rear a/c and the dog loves it even more.
If cost is an issue, blanking it is the only sensible option.
I have replaced two of the rear pipe sections in 4.5 years at over 100 quid per section, plus the cost of the regas.
The R134 gas price has gone mental and the days of 30 quid recharges have gone.
If blanked dont forget to modfy the sticker on the bonnet slam panel, otherwise they will stick to much in.
