My new D3 has no reverse sensor "off switch" and I wish to connect an Aaron Mitchell tow hitch which will always activate the proximity warning -- now the question -- Can I assume that the wiring harness is standard for all our D3s and that behind the dash will be the wires terminated with a permanent bridge,ie I can attach a LR original switch and restore this on/off function to my vehicle.
I don't want to dismantle anything if I'm wrong.
Cheers
Neil

There should be an off switch to the left of the hazard switch.
My D3 is going to Mitchell bros tomorrow to see if we can adjust the sensors to miss the hitch. I'll let you know how it goes.
Simon Arch has a way of disabling the two inner ones as another option. You can't just disconnect.
The other option is I think someone on the forum used butyl rubber tape which absorbed the signal.
So there are a few options. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

All 08my D3's Aus spec dont have the switch in the upper centre console. The Switch can be brought as a spare part but it comes complete with the hole set of switches, Hazard, Lock/Unlock, DSC & RPDC.
It was removed for 08MY. D4 Alaska/Almond 2.7 TDV6 with E-diff & extra's..
Keep smilin' Pete.

That's useful.
Fitting postponed today, I will keep you posted, looks like next week. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Very useful
Still going to pull off the switch cluster and see the loom for a chance of retrofitting.
I'm flying to Sydney on Sat for a week, so shall try and visit Mitchell Bros. to eyeball their gear.
Going to experiment with inside sensors when I,m back. Maybe a small cone shroud to
mask the hitch, but not reflect the signal. I can see a day of Blutac and plastic bits, when I get back !

Mine is a MY08 -- no switch, but maybe no faults anywhere either
I'll let you know what transpires Pete.
