D3 won’t start after charging battery

My D3 has been having HDC faults for a while and while trouble shooting, I thought I would charge the battery, charged it up, connected the terminals, key in ignition dash looks good. But when I turn the key the engine doesn’t start, there is a click and all electrics shut down completely. If I disconnect and reconnect battery the dash comes back up but as soon as I turn the key it shuts down. Seems I may have caused a bigger issue than I was trying to solve. I was hoping someone would be able to give me some pointers to check so I can hopefully resolve this issue.

Check the battery terminals are clean and tight, obviously you had a reason to charge the battery Whistle
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I had a battery just recently which was permanently on a CTEK charger (on my BMW E36). It does very little work. The car would not crank Big Cry

Tested it (https://www.amazon.co.uk/FOXWELL-100-1100-...amp;sr=1-1) and it was supposed to have 740 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) capacity and it tested at just 150 Amps Shocked

New battery fitted, started first time. Moral - it might look OK tested open circuit, but has no capacity to crank (fast enough).

Take the battery to (most) Halfords stores and they will test it for you.

Good luck Thumbs Up
