Is this a problem?
Hi Gents,
New owner of a D3 which has had its radio replaced years ago with he Pioneer DVD system in the photo.
I'm planning to scrap that and get a Bluetooth/CarPlay system installed (and fix the sad looking surround).
The original radio panel is long gone. One of the mechanics who I spoke to told me that if the panel is missing, that means it's missing a Can Bus Data which thus means if any error codes come up he won't be able to check it properly.
That sounds weird to me but then I'm not a car expert let alone a Land Rover expert. Is there any truth in what he says or should I hightail it to a better mechanic?!
Appreciate the wisdom as always.
Cheers
Rachel

Ok thanks.
Yes the display up top does come on.
If I source a new (reconditioned) radio will that solve the problem? Saw some options on rimmerbros website.
Is there anything I should be aware of? Are they all interchangeable or is there a radio / panel specific to my V8 4.4 SE petrol version?
Thanks! Sorry for all the questions....

If the screen works, wouldn't part of the headunit still be fitted in the car somewhere ?
And if that is the case, cause no problems doing diagnostics
