How do I add Dr. Tranny through the engine bay (D4)
Hi all,
I have searched and not able to find what I am looking for. I have seen that a few folks have been able to add in Dr.Tranny through the radiator hose, but all that I could find has been on D3s. Looking at my D4 engine bay, there is nothing there that seems to reflect the photos.
I may be looking at the wrong bit. Could someone please guide me?
Thanks.D4 HSE all the way

I did it on my D3 but can't help with the D4 as I haven't yet had to do it on my current D4. Someone will be along shortly to help. They're good here like that.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

D4 is completely different. Wouldn't attempt it other than putting it in the gearbox fillerMy D3 Build Thread

Oh, that is what I was trying to avoid.
So, just undo the bolt and pour it in? Am I likely to loose any of the oil? I'm thinking of giving it a go this weekend.

Might be worth putting the side of the car that has the filler on up on a kerb etc to stop any oil loss?

You have not mentioned why you are adding the stuff, what issue you have or when you last changed the gearbox oil.
The first tip to stop the oil from flowing out of the fill port is to have the engine running, the gears exercised and to do it whilst the gearbox is still cool.

Good point.
So, I have had my TC referred (again) and it seems to be all good, apart from the fact that straight after the installation, when pulling hard in 4th and 5th gear (using paddles), I had some juddering. Speaking to the installer, he asked me to give it a few miles and see what would happen.
Anyway, after 600miles or so, this seems to have gone, but I 'feel' that when the car is cold, the gearbox or the TC is just not engaging right. Once warm, I 'feel' that its all good and no slippage.
I may add that there is an element of wobble/ vibration that is akin to the centre pop shaft not being balance right. Every now and then feel a wobble at very low speeds and a slight vibration on the motorways.

I'd advise you not to add Dr Tranny then and see what happens with the reconditioned TC.
Unexplained vibrations is not my area of expertise, so hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in.
Good luck.

What I need is someone in the know, to give my work horse a full look over. I recently discovered that a garage in Coventry replaced my wishbones with what they told me were original Land Rover items, but ended up to be some horrible fake ones. They were so bad that the bushes separated from the mount points.
So, I find random garages hard to trust, but if there is someone on here around the midlands area, it would be good if they could take a look for me.
My car works hard for a living (185K miles and counting) so needs to be in top condition to take the punishment.
Any recommendations?D4 HSE all the way

Interestingly, after searching on there, I gave the clutch recalibration a try and you know what, it seems to have cured all symptoms, including improved pickup, the slight juddering at low speed is all gone now and throttle on/off clonks all gone.
Seems a lot tighter all round. I will update after a few more miles.D4 HSE all the way
