Disco 3 - a stationary Kennel ! |
|
Hi Guys
Ive rebuilt my disco 3 tdv6 (2006) and now when all is reconnected apart from the rear and front lights, the car wont turnover and has the symphony of fauLts on the dash including the dreaded "E" as well as HDC. No special programmes, low coolant, engine fault...... and the hazards are flashing.
I tried a hard reset and nothing, fuses ok, connections are clean and dry, earths were cleaned and all appear good, fusible link from battery to live feed for starter is good.
I have attached a few screen shots and the problem largely appears in the HS CAN.
The voltage tests and resistance tests on the DTC were as follows:
Battery voltage alpine:
16 is 12.2
6 – 123 ohms
3-1 61.9 ohms
pin 6 –2.46v
pin 14 – 3.36v
pin 3 – 2.56v
pin 11 – 2.3v
The following faults i was able to pull off before the SDD failed also

Not sure, but it possibly looks like that the connections to the ecu's may be problematic.
Are ALL the ecu's connected? Make sure none of the pins are bent or corroded.
May be worthwhile taking off all the connectors and applying contact cleaner and then reconnecting.

I took off the connectors and cleaned them though they appeared in good shape and sprayed all o them with contact cleaner. Couldn't see any bent ones at all

I assume that you disconnected the battery so a lot of the lost comms faults can be forgotten as that will happen but once your up and running it should be fine also make sure your battery is fully charged as it has been off a while a charge would not hurt it Discovery 3 se gone

Geoff - it was a 5 month project and this has been the worst part of it - the feeling of helplessness when there seemed little tangible i could do.
The battery was recharged and I've it on charge again tonight and will try again tomorrow. Ive a new brake switch to get as they seem to give some trouble like this too

I'm sure that i read somewhere on here that most u codes can be discounted but as always i stand to be corrected but the brake switch and bulbs do cause a lot of problems so start there as they are the simple parts and also make sure your battery is in good condition as 5 month's without use does not help a battery Discovery 3 se gone
