oil filter housing poor design

As ive only had the D3 about 6 weeks after choppin in the D2 ive worked my way down a few to do jobs
All cleaned off underbelly and waxoyled
drivers door lock changed
I decided to drop the oil today , no biggie but how poor is the filter housing , it must hold about a 100mm of old oil after you have pulled the filter,
thought the D2 rotary was a pain and pointless but this idea is w##k
planning a full fluid change when im off a chrimbo , ill buy a big syringe to get as much I as I can out next time
One thing I did notice whilst I had the belly pans off was I had a little hitoric oil and muck on the front panel just about under the intercooler hose junction , I have in my service history a bill for it having the hose checked and tightened , pitth they didnt clean the area to
I spent a good ten mins looking all over for a leak but none found

Did you fit the new filter correctly?
I think you have to be a real numpty to get it wrong but there been quite a few instances of it and it wrecks the engine!
The large long intercooler hose can split and be very hard to see the split, if the hose feels even the slightest bit hard its wants a new one.

I think so bud , just rotate till you feel it drop into the hole
but talking of numpty Shocked the first thing I did was drop the oil then went about cleaning the oil I mentioned off, then had a good look around then touched the waxoyl that I had missed
went on to do the filter , had my bacon butty and tea during a yak with my next door neighbour, hes into series landies, then onto to fill up with lovely magnatech 5/30
Have you worked out what I didnt do yet

B####ks the sump plugs not in , good job I had only put in about 500mls, shot under to put the plug in , wow its still coming out black so did me a favour flushing a bit more dirty oil out
dopey old fart Embarassed
