Schools Out

It is with deep regret that I have to announce that in certain parts of Scotland today, they break up for the school holidays. I think they are finished at 12.30 hrs. Big Cry

With SWMBO working, bar a week of it, then it's down to me to entertain and keep order for the three of them until 16th August. Banging Head

Please God, be gentle with me........ Shocked

Do they really finish school much earlier than in England?
In which parts of Scotland?
Do you also have terms?

Might really be moving to Scotland so wife and daughter can enjoy longer summer holiday and sun
It takes all sorts (to make a world).

Yes, regarding the Summer Holidays, it's pretty much general in the whole of Scotland. You can guarentee everyone's back by the third week in August, never later. I did hear of one area in Strathclyde that started their holidays last week, but I can't remember which one.

Our autumn holidays are normally a couple of weeks earlier than the English ones, but that means we can get cheaper holidays. Thumbs Up

The Christmas and Easter ones about the same.

Yes, it would be great if they found their own amusement and got their finger out, but that ain't gonna happen despite hints, prompts and bribery. Laughing

SWMBO has more holidays, but after the kids go back! Rolling Eyes

Muddy, you have my sympathies. Snigger

Where? That would be good as I would prefer longer summer break and less break during the year (as I am used to)

Riccardo, my 2 go to an independent school, their school holidays are shorter than some, 8 weeks in the summer, 3 weeks at Christmas and Easter.

South Lanarkshire schools broke for summer hols last Friday. Don't I know it SWMBO and I have a 6 year old to entertain for the next 5 weeks before he goes on holiday with his parents. Never last at this rate although my Lego skills have improved out of all recognition.

You have my sympathy Bow down

Mine are in their 20s now but I had 3 to entertain and used to run my business from home - my profits used to dip between July and September - wonder why Rolling Eyes

Swmbo used to go to work and say "you haven't done much today" when she came back Banging Head

Laughing your lucky, you can hand them back! I was a late starter with a young wife! Tell me about the Lego, I pick it off the floor, toilet, garden and most places you couldn't even imagine on a daily basis.

If you don't come back from the rock pools soaking wet it has not been a good day. Oh where are the simple pleasures of being retired.
