What can I say?

Tonight SWMBO parks her car in the drive and bolts into the house. Shocked "my car has gone wrong, it's showing a funny light on the dash." I go out and manage to get myself into her BMW and play with it, switch on, nothing I do can recreate the problem.

I start it on, sounds fine etc.etc. I waste a good hour thumbing thorough the "i" whatever it's called on the Satnav screen. All systems checked, all fine, the lot, no BMW I messages.

SWMBO gets into the passenger seat, shows me where the warning light came on. I asked her, "what colour, red, orange?" "Blue", she says,

I am even more confused at this point and another half hour passes before I get to the part in the i thing about fuel economy and find out she inadvertently switched it to ECO mode and the blue warning light was actually an indicator that tells you how much fuel you have saved! "Oh sorry" she laughs, "at least you don't have to take it into the dealers tomorrow." And walks into the house like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. Banging Head

Just makes you wonder how she'd cope with a full blown D3 hissyfit.

She was driving the D4 when the crankshaft sensor went into limp. No panic, not her car and it showed red rather than the nasty blue colour. Rolling Eyes

I truly hate that "eco" malarky on the dash. It's like BMW had a great idea to make a fantastic chassis and drive train which is a pure joy to push on then they had some sort of conscience issue and put this on just to p**s you off!!!

SWMBOs is up for changing shortly and she's going "Touring" for the practical advantages. We had one on loan and when you selected "Sport" it knocked the traction off without having to press out else. Very impressed - just a shame this loaner had low profiles which are like a chocolate fire-guard around these parts Sad

Mrs Mother Superior is a daily Defender driver so has no problems with these new fangled warning lights, she just keeps an eye on the rear view mirror for any large bits that fall off, anything bigger than a Yorkshire terrier, may be important.......but not necessarily

This has been on for about a year, think it means "possible engine fire" or " go home now, you've left the grill on"
