I prefer the square but it doesn't read correctly, I was thinking get he standard shape one bit slightly smaller so it fits the gap nicely if that makes sense

You can style your own plate on number plate manufacturers website.
What I found best is to check out with your friendly MOT garage before you purchase, there is a view that size of letter/numeral has to be min. 2.5 " but my chap was concerned about if any honeycomb effect more than letter size if it was going to be marginal so I used import style plate and fitted text in.
It worked he advised that he would not fail itD3 2.7 Zermatt silver (not another one)

depends how many digits your plate is - mines only 5 so it would have fitted on a square plate - though I never botheredSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Just had same dilema but went with square plate and actually in hindsight the numberplate only means anything to me and family and it looks ok still have you tried it on a virtual Disco ?
Sadly I do reverse into parking spots more now though

You'll need to get a standard size plate and then trim it. The legal requirement is that the border must be no less then 11mm on all edges - so there's certainly room to trim.
I found one particular website really helpful to design all of the different sized plates, but I'm sure that there will be plenty of others around. Please let me know if you'd like a link.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Debadging it helps, as the "DISCOVERY" badge is pushed right to the very bottom and looks odd with so much free space above it.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

What does the 'normal' plate do there that a square one wouldn't?
Regulations specify the typeface and the amount of space between and around letters. The only additional requirements for a two line plate are the spacing between the lines, and that the current style is split after the numbers.
There is a photo in my gallery of my then D3.
Three line plates now appear to be prohibited, even on military vehicles.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

If the plate says something then it still makes some sense (my adopted home town is Liskeard - pronounced "Lisk'rd")2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
