I was poking around the battery compartment and I came across a rubber pipe that has been melted in two. I can see where the pipe originates (comes up through into the engine compartment behind the battery) but I cannot for the life of me see what it was connected to! Can anyone shed any light on the pipe's purpose and what it should be connected to please?

It's from a 2005 LR3 2.7 V6 Diesel.
Thanks in advance,

Well, for what it's worth, I've re-routed the pipe so it's in between the fuse housing and the battery, cut the pipe, fitted the elbow and plugged it in.

Trouble is, I'm not sure what the hole is actually doing...
Well, it's all attached so job's a good 'un!
Cheers All!
