[For Sale] Robbie's Cast Iron Fireplace Insert Complete
Cast iron arched fireplace insert, dated as 1938 but in the earlier simple Victorian style. Made from 3/8" thick iron this is seriously heavy and adds a lot of thermal mass to either a coal or log fire:

The insert is 94 cm high, 94 cm wide and sits up to 27 cm deep into the chimney breast, so will suit more modern builds:

This reclaimed fireplace insert has had 3 homes so far and was recently removed from my lounge, where it was surrounded by a wooden fireplace. Since then it has been refurbished by me, with the firebox parts and surround blasted and finished before coating with Stovax high-temp matt black on the surround, with the firebox front grille and log basket treated with Hammerite gloss black high temperature paint:

The complete item comprises arched insert, firebox back panel, front grille, coal fire vented base, log basket, steel ash pan and decorative base cover with brass knob.
£150.00 collection only from Gainsborough.

Thanks, it did come up rather well. Whist I did have to do a bit of blending with a grinder the bulk of the restoration was done with those roloc scotchbrite pads - they are a terrific little invention.
