South Africa 2010 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 S Auto Fuji WhiteDiscovery 4

Hi all, I have a D4 2010 model with 157 000km on the clock. The engine stop working and the answer I get is that the crank shaft broke and that we have to replace with a new engine. Land Rover South Africa is not prepared to assist according to the dealer. Has anybody encountered this before.

Hi, thank for your information. Pete sent me a private message but I can not reply to that as yet as I have not posted more that three messages. I have received information from George Bosch with an explanation of the real problem, something Land Rover has not been able to provide.

Regards,

Marius

If that is the case why don't they tell me that and why do they not admit that it is a problem

Well they would look at it on a case by case basis however if your crank has gone in the same way as they describe and you have previously had the vehicle serviced as required then I suspect you would have a case :thumb-sup:

Thanks for the support. I have tried to contact Pete at Land Rover South Africa but he must be somewhere else.

Catastrophic Crank Shaft Failure TDV6 3.0 @ 57k miles

Evening all. I admit that I am an irregular user of the forum but, like many others?, I turn to it for assistance when the :censored: hits the fan with

Having had a really good trawl through various threads and this looks like it is the most recent about the above.

An excellent and very helpful independent LR garage in north Oxfordshire has our D4 2010 - they have established crank failure. Car is being taken to main dealer ASAP after I spoke to them and LR Customer Services about LR helping out. Dealer & LR line was as per threads on here - every case treated on case by case basis etc etc......

Car has full main dealer service history until Dec 10 when we bought it and the none LR dealer we bought it from undertook minor service at 53k.

1) Has anyone had any experience of crank failure on a D4?

2) Anyone had any luck with LR covering all or even part of the estimated £14k :blub: replacement cost at the independent!!!! (call me stupid but no warranty)

I have found CRC@LandRover details on here and will use in due course - dependent on the outcome of main dealer's investigation and of course their reaction/proposal on repair!!

Any help very much appreciated

Cheers

Fezza
