Car Fault - Options

All,

I need some advice. For the purpose of this post I'm not going to specify the dealer involved. I also don't want to discuss what might or might not be wrong with the car. I'm looking for advice on what options I have.

Some background first. I purchased my Discovery 4 in December 2014 from a main dealer for approximately £28K. It came with a 12 month manufacturers warranty and had 62K miles. The car is a 2010 model.

Within a few months I noticed that there was a significant puff of smoke on cold start. I reported this to the dealer when it was booked in for other work. Over the last 12 months the car was returned to the dealer on several occasions and different parts were replaced in an attempt to address the cold start smoke. These include:

- Turbo pipe modification;
- New inter cooler;
- New Turbo, inter cooler and pipe work;
- All injectors checked and one replaced when found faulty.

None of work undertaken fixed the problem. In December 2015 I extended the warranty to avoid any issues with faulty finding the outstanding issue.

At the request of the dealer I dropped the car off with them on January 25, 2016 so they could investigate the fault further.

We are now 9 weeks in and although various parts have been replaced the problem persists. What I'm looking for is guidance on what my options are?

- Replacement car?
- Full refund?
- Some form of compensation?
- Other?

If anyone has any thoughts or if they have had similar experiences I'd appreciate any help.

Have they provided a courtesy car?

If it's an equivalent or better car, I'd let them continue fault finding my car and enjoy the 'free' upgrade. Mr. Green

If they haven't provided a courtesy car I'd be at their door demanding one and taking proper legal advice from a suitably qualified lawyer/solicitor. Evil or Very Mad
