Roof Bars. Land Rover vs Thule. Any recommendations?
Hi folks,
I'm looking to buy a set of roof bars for my D4. After some research, I've narrowed down to the following:
Land Rover VPLAR0001 Cross Bars
Thule 969 WingBars
I think the Land Rover ones look neater since the ends do not stick out. The Thule ones might be quieter since they have a thinner profile.
Does anyone have any experience of either of these? Any advice or recommendations would be welcome.
Many thanks,

I don't think there's any difference in the noise they make. Neither are obtrusive.
The LR ones do look neater but their usable width is quite a lot less. It therefore depends on what you plan to use them for. I've got a set of both as the LR ones weren't wide enough for a particular roof box that I use.Darren

Thanks for your response.
I didn't think of usable space on the roof bars and of course you're right, the LR ones have a little less because of their design. I was only planning to use it with a Thule Evolution 100 roof box, which I'm sure would fit on both, but I'll check now.

I bought some atera ones which were cheaper and to be honest fine but they did not go on quite so smoothly. I would recommend the Land Rover ones. In fact when I get round to it I'll be selling the Atera ones if any body wants them?

I recently bought the Thule 969 Wingbars (from roofbox.co.uk). They are very easy to fit, look good and are very sturdy and the noise from them is minimal.
Personally the fact they overhang slightly is a good thing as it gives slightly more working room for items (so i have a roof box attached and still have room for other items (if required- bike carrier etc).
