D3 2006 to D4 2012 - much difference?
My neighbour is thinking of changing to the above and is seeking my advice? I have no idea as my MY16 HSE is the first Discovery for me - having changed from a Toyota Land Cruiser. What should I tell him....? or maybe just let him have a go in mine?2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

I went from a D3 to one of the first D4's. The change was massive, there was another big jump when they went from the D4 6 speed to the D4 8 speed, so that would be the one I went for if it was me.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

If he changes to an 8 speed D4, then he will notice a huge difference. He needs to take one for a test drive.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

I moved from a 2006 D3 manual to a 2011 D4. There is a very noticeable difference in the amount of ready power available at the touch of the accelerator, driving with a automatic is brilliant and makes me wish I had done it years ago, the dashboard etc layout is different but has all the same things just in different places. The only downside I have found is the mpg is worse and doesn't match what I expected.
Overall I'm very pleased I made the change.

Truck? Truck? Careful, I'll post up a couple of those pics.
Big difference from D3 to early D4, even bigger to an MY12 or above with 8 speed box.Paul.

I would agree. No comparison. I had an 08 D3, and will be picking up, I hope, a 12 D4 next week. I am actually quite excited in that sort of kid waiting to open Christmas presents sort of way, and I am over 50. Eeeek!
