Very brief flash of yellow lights after starting

I've had a good read of all the posts on here re this issue but none seem to fit my exact circumstances

Just after starting sometimes, but not always, I get a flash of three yellow lights, brake, hdc and one other which I cannot recall - tends to happen when car has not been used for a few days or oddly if it has rained

Sometimes get the message special programs off for a short period 10-20 secs but not always

Brake lights are OK - LR bulbs
Brake light switch replaced in in Aug 12 at about 50k now on 73k
Battery - shows 12.45v prior to starting - 15.4v just after starting as the alternator kicks in
Alternator replaced Jan 15 with DENSO one from Advanced Factors

Ive had the car for 5 years and not replaced the battery during this time but from the above it appears OK unless the CCA drops massively - (I used the multimeter to test this as best I could and the voltage dropped to just below 10v - although the car started pretty quickly so I dont think this was a really good test)

Only relevant code was a voltage one on EPB which unfortunately I cannot recall and have deleted to see if it reappears - No other codes to speak off other than EGRs which are blanked

Do I bite the bullet and get a new battery?

The part that also puzzles me is the its often does it after it has rained?

Messages that flash up like hdc off etc is a sign of low volts. Either battery is going or you could have a drain somewhere when its shut down.

Sounds like time for a new battery, esp if it could be original.

I thought that might be the case re battery but why when wet - I can understand when cold as the battery is less efficient

Plus all the voltages appear Ok

It's the drop in volts when you start that causes the lights to come up. New battery sounds like it will fix that unless you have other symptoms or issues.

One of the symptoms of a knackered battery is the alternator having to work very hard. Mine (new alternator & year old battery) starts at 15.2v then drops down after a bit to 14.1v. Thumbs Up
