Brakes & Vibration
I know there has been some recent topics of a similar nature, but I've started to get some vibration through the front brakes recently and it's been getting worse. Very noticeable today.
It's outside of warranty and I had the front discs and pads replaced about 9 months ago by a local tyre company who I've used and they've been fine. I don't know what discs and pads they've put on the front.
I have just ordered a new set of discs and pads pads from AF and will put these on sometime in the next couple of weeks and not so busy at the weekends at the moment and can spare the time (unlike earlier in the year).
Will be making use of the brake bible as its been a while since I've done a set of brakes. I am hoping this cures it.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

How many miles did your D4 cover in that 9 months? My D4 is warping front discs on average every 5k miles.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Just replaced the front discs on mine due to warping. Do the D4 discs have an issue. Replaced mine with Delphi ones. I'll see how it goes.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

It's done about 12k, what I cannot tell at the moment, until I take it apart, is what's wrong. Is it knackered pads, discs or both. Looking at the discs last night I could not detect any warping, but the drivers side disc had a ridge line in the centre, only slight but noticeable, whereas the near side was smooth with just a small lip on the edge of the discSill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Only the near side front has a wear sensor on it, the offside pads may be fubbard.
There have been a lot of posts of late about non genuine and a few genuine D4 disks warping, I have had genuine D4 pads and disks on my D3 for approx 30k miles without problems. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

No obvious wear or warping when removed but vibration is now cured. Took a few hours but then not changed brakes on 10years! Thanks Bodsy for the Bible very useful. Most of the time was taken trying not to undo and do up the carrier bolts.
Pictures of removed pads and discs to come, seem unable to upload from phoneSill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Here's some pictures, as I mentioned, no obvious signs of warping or strange wear patterns

I could not see any marks identifying the maker of the pads or disks, but I have now got Brembo discs and TRW pads from AF.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Its possible that the discs were not cooled evenly in the casting process and there are slightly harder and softer patches with the resultant change in friction characteristics which would result in judder.

Thanks. I also suspect that I would not be able to see slight warping, but can only feel it under breaking.
Anyway, did 50miles last night and all seems good, so fingers crossed it stays that waySill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders
