05 lr3 truck goes bonkers with foot of break pedal

Hello everyone. Have a 2005 lr3 v8 us spec. Drove to work today Parked and took the key out of the ignition. As soon as I removed my foot from the break pedal flashers start going. Radio , fan , locks and nav all flash off and then back on. HDC fault , parking break fault. Started the car all is fine. Drives fine lights all work. It's only when the key isn't in the egnition and no foot on break pedal. Dropped it off at the mechanic this morning. Said he couldn't figure it out and would have contact an engineer. Any ideas ?

Sounds like a can-bus problem. Have you jetwashed under the bonnet (hood) recently? could be water in the ecu plugs behind the battery.

No never washed under the bonnet. Never wanted to take the chance. We live in Seattle wa have had a bit more rain but nothing more than the normal. It has 140k miles on her. The last time the HDC fault came was when the break light bulb went out.

Well all was sorted out. Windshield cowling was leaking allowing water into the fuses and all the electrical behind the battery. Also when this was happening it shorted out the climate control module 1,500$ My mechanic replaced everything that came in contact with the water. After all said and done 3k USD. This was also with the parts given to me at cost.

OUCH !

OUCH!! indeed... what caused the cowling to fail, poor workmanship (windscreen replacement) or genuine part failure?

It is important we collect this information as in my experience is that failures are caused by previous bad workmanship by way of fixing/replacing earlier damage/servicing..
Owning a Discovery 3 is like dating a model.. a firm body and shape, wow.. the ride is fantastic >Very Happy for this your wallet can take a pounding and you worry about being deflated at any time...

My mechanic said that the part just failed. It was warped in places. As far as I know the windscreen has only been replaced once. Before I purchased it. It's a 2005 with 141,000 miles. Still purrs and drives like new. Even still has all 4 original air bags ! Knock on wood ! We've been very lucky this was the 1st major repair.
