Suspension fault from steering wheel alignment
I've put up with intermittent air suspension faults for a couple of years which was diagnosed by my local indie as a faulty compressor. Had the compressor and air tank replaced yesterday (with the D4 version) by Promec with software update and it was great. Drove it home then went to put it into off-road height on the driveway and got the dreaded ding-dong and warning light. You can imagine my disappointment.
Ian at Promec also pointed out that it needs about £1k of work doing on the suspension arms, ARB bushes and track rod ends which I wasn't surprised about having had little work done in recent years. At the moment the steering wheel is about 15 degrees off-centre and the rear tyre has worn heavily on the inside shoulder. He said that an off-centre steering wheel can trigger a suspension warning, which I was unaware of. Is that right?
So far I've spent over £2k on the old girl this year and with the other work that needs doing that will take it up to £3k. She is 11 years old with 165k on the clock. I'll give it a year I think to get the benefit of all that expense but then she can be someone else's money pit.Dec 04 TDV6 HSE in Tonga green with Alpaca interior.

Absolutely. On a long road trip this past summer, I dealt with several suspension issues and various seemingly unrelated warning lights due to a loose steering tie rod causing the steering sensor to freak out.
Once fixed, it was all back to normal.1972 BMW 2002tii - 190K

Not that it seems. They are flashing the software now (was upgraded as gone from Hitachi compressor to the new D4 design) but I doubt that will fix it. Dec 04 TDV6 HSE in Tonga green with Alpaca interior.

Turns out it was bits of the dessicant from the broken dryer on the compressor that had got into the system. A few hours of stripping and blowing out all the plumbing and fitting another compressor seems to have done the job.Dec 04 TDV6 HSE in Tonga green with Alpaca interior.
