Air leak/ oily appearance turbo nose inlet pipe

Hi everyone,

I have an audible small screech sound when car is in boost. I thought it was the crossover pipe. I have leak tested :

1. Front-back: from the start of the pipe that leads from the air filter box
2. Back to front: From one tailpipe, with the other blocked.

I was surprised that I found no leaks with (2). When I tested (1) smoke emanated from the nose of the turbo. On closer inspection the area to the underside of this was oily in appearance. FYI I have previously changed the small hose on the cold side turbo outlet that goes off to the intercooler.

There's a metal pipe with what look like a rubber connecting piece which fits to the turbo nose. Can someone advise if my diagnosis sounds right, and if this is a straightforward fix? Is there a part number for this rubber connecting piece?

Thanks,

Andy

Edit: I have found this post:

So it that pipe one big piece of hard plastic, and not metal with a connecting piece? I hope there's just a loose jubilee clip!

Hi

had the same issue , personally it was just a broken clip where that horizontal intercooler hose fits onto the turbo , saw traces of oil there , was all fixed with a new clip , also lubricated the turbo actuator at the same time

Hope the following helps u

Ps, will find a pic of that hose for u
