| BEWARE - "Reconditioned" VDO Siemens Injectors |

I've been talking to various diesel fuel injection specialists over the last few days about the possibility of getting the injectors from my D3 reconditioned.
It turns out that the parts are not currently available in order to undertake a full injector refurbishment. The solenoids, in particular, are not available to perform the repair. Similarly, the nozzles are also not available (although I was told nozzles from other injectors may fit).
So, if you see some reconditioned VDO Siemens injectors advertised on eBay - or elsewhere - then be sure to ask plenty of questions as to how they were reconditioned and with what. More likely is that they were removed a vehicle that was being broken for parts, tested, and sold as reconditioned just because they passed the test.
Tested, does not equal reconditioned. 
Some places seem to sell them on an exchange basis, which makes me wonder what happens to the ones that get returned to the vendor.
