LR Quality Control were half asleep 10 yrs ago, looks like they still are now.
The D3 ?
if its new its a reject vehicle thing....or it would be for me
paint isn't a matter of opinion but a matter of seeing the paint right in front of you
the paint on my D3 (although 9 years old) is simply superb.....BREXIT - done properly.

Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
if you aren't happy - reject it
I would.....as if the paint is poor where you can see it its highly likely to be wrong where you can't
dont delay - take it back & state "I am rejecting the car"
Ive done this twice with LR's - it doesn't compromise your position but gets rid of the substandard vehicle & gets you a to standard one.
It not up to the dealer to object with to or they find a way around it....you are in the driving seat
but I believe the period is two weeks / 14 days you can do this.....get in there right now
the dealers have to provide you with alternative transport whilst LR provide you with a new car.
you don't have to put it in writing - but it may be a good thing if you do - but don't let it delay youBREXIT - done properly.

SGH, You would be right not to accept re painting, I had a similar problem with my D3 when new,but I let a dealer repaint at their recommended body shop........... they made a right hash of it If it happened to me again, I would reject the vehicle, and insist on a full refund, as I would not be looking to go through with another purchase of a defective unfinished vehicle, or any other LR product.....Utter Crap IMHO, Good Luck, hope you get a satisfactory outcome.
A few things have been missed:
1) all the inspections that should have seen this fault in Land Rover.....not just one but many.....the final one being missed is deplorable.
2) importantly the dealer PDI (pre delivery inspection) that should have seen this immediately......many paint imperfections are dealt with by dealers using smart repairs.....which you would be totally unaware of.....the dealer has to explain himself how this was missed as the paint is in a very obvious place (is it both sides ?)
3) I go over any new vehicles I acquire very thoroughly - even to the extent of pointing the issue out before I take the keys (my XK had a small scratch on its upper paintwork)......you aren't responsible for quality control so you aren't part of the system other than being the customer.
Don't get fobbed off with a body shop repair or being told that this is the only avenue available....it isn't
My most recent company VW Golf GT was delivered minus the paddle shift steering wheel ( a standard piece of kit on the model I have with DSG.......VW swapped the wheel out & did a mammoth investigation as to why......the local dealers were very red faced when I asked for a paper copy of their PDI check sheet.BREXIT - done properly.

It's not just LR. When the showy dealer took the cloth, bows, and other ridiculous circus paraphernalia off to unveil my X5, the first thing I asked him was if Stevie Wonder had done the PDI. There were 3 large blobs on the browline above the windscreen on the drivers side. Turned out to be weld spatter that had just been pained over. Another dealer fixed it but you wouldn't believe the bull$h*t I had from the original mob. Opening gambit was that it's sealant from the screen - since when do they put the glass in and then spray them I asked.
I'm still fuming thinking about it !2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT
2019 Suzuki Vitara AllGrip
Gone BMW X5 xDrive 30d M Sport (F15)
Gone Disco 4 HSE SD V6
Gone 2008 Jaguar XF 2.7TD Premium Luxury
I have had to reject...
one was a Disco 2......4 days in the TD5 engine sounded worse than a cement mixer....
when I took it back on a transporter they suggested I reject it....they did replace the engine & sell it on.
I never found out whether this fault was a one off or one of many...
They provided a brand new D2 & vehicles & fuel whilst I waited for this (4 weeks)
....a fault that just could have not been detected on a PDI
the second was
another Disco 2 from same dealer with a faulty auto gearbox....massive clunk clunk on decelerate down change - found on the long drive I took on just after delivery....I took the D2 to another dealer & they checked things out....they asked me to drive it off their forecourt, ring the supplying dealer & reject the D2.....what I learnt was this was one a batch with problematical auto boxes
....another fault that just could no have been detected on a PDI.
Hurst's the dealers fitted the full wood interior trim as a goodwill gesture.....
Paint faults are blatantly obvious & surely a PDI pass or fail - if the Dealer finds a fault its their task to make LR aware of this & sort it not pass it on to the unsuspecting customer.
The dealer & LR should grovel miserably with this one....get what you can.
fixed up it may even reduce its re sale value....BREXIT - done properly.
