which rear timimg for TDV6
Hi to all,
I am faced with the following difficult decision and would appreciate your advice.
I have a Discovery 3 purchased in March 2006 in Greece (it is a MY 2005) and I am in the process of ordering new timing belts.
My problem is that in Feb 2008 I had a complete new engine fitted under LR warranty as the old one developed problems with the crankshaft bearings and had to be replaced (The LR dealer told me it was due to the oil pump).
So now I have to choose between two rear belt part numbers (1324390 or LR019115) and I am trying to find which will the right one to order.
Does anyone know whether the two belts have any major differences (e.g. different number of teeth, etc).
EU3 (1324390) is 85 teeth, EU4 (LR019115) is 82 teeth. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC
Freelander 2 2007 HSE Manual Tambora Flame
Previous: FL2 56 reg SE Manual Black (written off )
Disco 3 06 reg B7S Manual Rimini Red
Disco 2 TD5 Y reg ES Manual Blue - Chipped
Several Discovery 300 TDis

If the belt cover is held in place with plastic tabs, it's a 1324390 you need
If it's held in place with metal Spring clips, you need the LR019115

Thank you for your prompt reply. The car is classified as EU3, so have a feeling that the old belt has to come out in order to count the teeth.
On the other hand if the new engine was EU4 understand it would require ECM reprogramming (but the ECM it was not replaced and the car is not fitted with a DPF).
Are there any differences between the two engines except perhaps the addition of a DPF ?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot Disco_Mikey. Will check how the cover is being held and revert.

Being an 05, yours will need the former kit
But if an new engine went in in 08 surely it would be a 07/08 engine not an 05 engine.
Surely you need to check the engine number to determine.

Buy both they are not expensive, return the one you don't fit It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The repairing garage would have fitted all his original EU3 bits to the new engine,so it's still an EU3 My D3 Build Thread

Thinking about it the LR dealer must have replaced the original engine with an EU3 engine. I do remember the new engine was complete but stripped and they had to add various bits and pieces from the old one (e.g. injector piping was replaced with new ones). Anyway the new engine number is 02867112760T (as seen on a label secured with rivets on the engine top cover).

have seen them in sponsor AF shop. Not expensive if you buy separately but but return shipping cost to the UK will be equal to the price of the belt (DAYCO). In addition do not forget the capital controls imposed here in Greece (now how can people vote a party that imposed capital controls on them and nearly ruined the country is another thing ....)

I agree with you, I must go for an EU3 belt (but will also try to check how the cover is being held in place as you suggested)

Your probably right but you know what happens when you assume things have been done - they haven't.
